From “greening” the present system to real transformation-transforming resource use for human wellbeing and planetary stability

Published 2022 – As part of the Earth4All project, collaborators have submitted deep-dive papers to delve further into the issues and solutions needed to transform our economic system and provide an equitable future for all on a finite planet. This paper explores the use of natural resources, which provide the foundation for the goods, services, and infrastructure that make up the current socio-economic systems. The authors argue that the mismanagement of these natural resources is the common cause of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution or health impacts. Furthermore, by identifying the root causes of these crises, together we can deliver policy responses that tackle them effectively.
